I have FF set to update automatically but it doesn't do so. I'll get that Adblock Plus extension too.

The ad scripts I have never seen. The BBC went to advertising late last year.

I have a question for you. How did you determine that " h t t p://ad.doubleclick.net/" was the advertising website being blocked? Because using that I went into the hosts file and searched for it. I was eventually obliged to reduce my search term(s) to ad.doubleciick and surprise surprise found ad.doubleclick.net #[MVPS.Criteria]. I excluded it and now I have no problem - all in the last few minutes. In FF or in IE hosts file on or off no - white space!

I think this is what Mike M was pushing me towards!! He is getting quite irate in his last post a little while ago.
