please read ALL of this BEFORE you start.....

FIRST rule, UNINSTALLING an ANTI-VIRUS is a whole DIFFERENT thing than just uninstalling SOME program, an anti-virus 'permeates' your WHOLE computer - that is the HOW it is able to do WHAT it has to do to work, so you CANNOT just go to the 'add/ remove programs' control panel

so to see if we can get this figured out - avg has a specific uninstall routine, [and it is a REAL pain]

then to UNINSTALL it CORRECTLY - in order:
1. print these directions for the uninstall of avg
2. download avg
DOWNLOAD
[NOTE: do NOT run from the 'net - 'save' to harddrive and remember WHERE you put it]
3. boot to 'safe' mode
4. stop - or turn off - or disable starting of any anti- mal / spyware programs
5. install avg
6. do a 'normal' boot
7. re-boot to 'safe mode'
8. do the uninstall of avg by these directions you printed
[AND - if it asks about uninstalling any SHARED .dll files - say NO when you are asked]
9. do a 'normal' boot
10. is everything ok now?

you also might read:
info from HERE
and HERE

when i say 'print' out the instructions, just the parts that you feel you need to remember, or write some notes, they don't HAVE to be printed

then, take your time - if you have a problem, or something comes up that you're not sure of - just STOP - post your question - if i'm not on, someone else will be here to help you

to get to 'safe' mode:
- tap the f8 key @ the 'post' screen when booting
- OR -
- hold the ctrl [control] key down when @ the 'post' screen

ok?
