Hey, so Sunday afternoon I downloaded the new McAfee update for Shaw Secure without any problems. However when I restarted my laptop yesterday afternoon (coincidentally the same day Shaw Secure goes obsolete) an error - an unfamiliar blue screen popped up which said something about an error in a certain file, thus my PC restarted on its own. Before it started up, my computer went through a file check searching for the error. When it finally booted up I noticed Mcafee was gone, and it was prompting me to turn on Shaw Secure (which no longer exists). Clicking the bubble it said F-Secure is unfamiliar, do you want to run it. Clicking run did absolutely nothing. So I went back and tried to re-install Mcafee. Going through the download process it comes to a point where it tells me it cannot install while Shaw Secure is still installed. I click uninstall and it says its unsuccessful. So I go to the add/remove programs page, and uninstall Shaw Secure from there, it says its successful, restart the computer, and its still there. I'm assuming it is corrupted, but doesn't want to go away, preventing me from downloading Mcafee. Any suggestions?

Try the free Revo Uninstaller.

Reno uninstaller seems to have done the trick, shaw secure is gone. But after removing the leftover files from the registry- which were all f-secure files- I'm unable to access the Internet at all from from both chrome and IE browsers. I'm getting an Error 137. I must have removed an important file by accident?

Windows 7 home premium. 64-bit OS.

Click Start > Programs > Accessories > right-click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

In the Command Prompt, type in the bold text, one command after the other, pressing Enter between each one of them:

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults: netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults: netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the computer.

That fixed my Internet issues thank you so much! However, trying to reinstall Mcafee it still detects shaw secure somewhere on my computer, even though I can't seem to find any trace left of it. I might be forced to go with a new antivirus program, I'm almost convinced its just a glitch.

I would recommend better free alternatives, like Microsoft Security Essentials or Avira Antivr.
