Solved: Free PDF editing software
I'd like someone who KNOWS (like folks on this group) to suggest a good free PDF editing solution. I just want to make simple edits, and I think editing is easier than converting to text, because that seems to affect formatting? Any suggestions? Again, just need to make simple text edits.

the options are not many but lucky they do it well. Open office. aka Libra Office. The "Publisher" variant in this package can "draw" on pdf documents it can't back engineer,
Any document not locked down made by word can be opened back into the word processor. So some limitations and formatting issues will arise but thats the winner there.

So if I download Open Office, can I just open a PDF into the word processor and edit it? Or how does it work (if it can be summarized briefly)...just trying to know if it's something I can do before I download.

There really is NO such program. There are some that claim to be, but they really have built in translators and then reproduces a pdf file, that replaces the one you "opened". It is "done with mirrors", so you do not see what is really happening.
