CPU usage 100 percent
CPU usage is almost always at 100 even when performing simple task and its running really slow

Download and save and then install the free version of

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

SUPERAntiSpyware

Make sure to update their definition files during the install process.

Make sure to uncheck and decline to install any extras, such as toolbars and homepages, they may offer.

After they're installed and updated, restart the computer.

Run a quick scan with each one.

Note: DON'T use the computer while each scan is in progress.

After each scan is finished, select and remove EVERYTHING that was found.

Restart the computer, if prompted to, to complete the removal process.

Click Start - Run, then type in

%temp% (% is the percent symbol in the number 5 key)

and then click OK.

Once that temp folder appears and you can view its contents, select and delete EVERYTHING that's inside it.

If a few files resist being deleted, that's normal behavior. Leave them alone and delete EVERYTHING else.

If a massive number of files are being deleted, the computer may appear to "hang". Be patient and wait for the deletion process to finish.

After it's done, restart the computer.

What's the complete model number of that HP G60 laptop?

There should be a dash and a series of numbers and letters after "G60".

If you don't know for sure, advise what the product number(P/N) and model number(M/N) on the sticker is.

Ran the scans. Everything negative. Deleted temp folder and restarted. No effect

Here is the support site for the HP G60-519WM laptop.

If you don't have a recovery disc kit for it, you can purchase it from here.

If HP no longer has it available, you can purchase it from here.

If the built-in recovery partition becomes damaged or if the hard drive dies in that laptop and needs to be replaced, you'll need the recovery disc kit to get it going again.

Go to Start - Run - MSCONFIG - OK - "Startup" tab.

Write down ONLY the names in the "Startup Item" column that have a checkmark next to them.

If the "Startup Item" column isn't wide enough to see the entire name of any of them, widen the column.

Submit those names here in a vertical list.

Make sure to spell them EXACTLY as you see them there.

I like to play games like FSX and Minecraft and even on low settings the lag is terriblw

It has a Celeron processor and integrated graphics. It's not intended to be used for gaming.

"Handle" is a relative term. So is "CPU usage". You say it's always at 100%. That means you see one specific process always consuming 100% of the CPU? Or 2 processes consuming 100% of CPU? Where are you seeing this, and what exactly are you seeing?

I would expect poor gaming performance on that system. What's the history here? It played fine one day and not the next? Performance is worse today than it was.........when? Yesterday? Last week? Last year? It might just be bit-rot and time to reinstall Windows. I can't tell anything from the screen shots you posted. Maybe flavallee can.

Move the divider bar between the "Startup Item" and "Manufacturer" columns to the right until the ENTIRE name of all entries in the "Startup Item" column can be seen, then submit new screenshots.

It appears that at least 15 of them can be unchecked.

I personally am not a gamer, but from what I've read about gaming requirements, a minimum of an Intel Dual Core or Quad Core 2.00 GHz+ processor is recommended for gaming.

The Intel Celeron and AMD Sempron are low-end processors that come in budget-level computers and aren't designed for gaming.

@DoubleHelix the computer will perform fine one minute and the next it will be so slow it can't even function. It even struggles with youtube videos. I have a meter on my sidebar that has CPU and RAM usage. RAM is fine but CPU is almost always at 100%.

I bought this computer from a friend last week. My Averatec 2500 series finally bit the dust. I wiped everything and started off fresh and the performance has been awful.
