To Whom It May Concern,

I have no idea if I have asked in the wrong section or not, but I would like to find out information on how do I access e-books for my Kindle. I was told that there is some sort of programme that you need to install into desk top/laptop to be able to download books so that you can then transfer to the kindle. Please can someone explain how I do this because I have NO idea even where to start. Not even sure what the search parameters would be to find these items. Have also been told that it's possible to access free e-books that have no copyright? Thank you in advance for all your help

You buy books from Amazon.com. They do have some free ones as well. The Amazon Kindle Store is available right on the Kindle. You don't need a computer.

I' m not sure how different things are in S. Australia but there are many places to get free e-books. One is from Amazon itself, as DoubleHelix says.....also, Project Gutenberg has many copyright-free books.

There is a daily email one can get from eReaderIQ that details free books for your area.

Really, just google free ebooks and you will find many sources.

If you have access to wireless you won't need your computer to download books, you can just do that on your kindle via whispernet. If you don't have wireless you can download books to your computer and then transfer to your kindle via a usb cable.

You can also use kindle for PC to read books on your computer (it's free).

I know the kindle can seem very confusing at first, but once you get used to it, it's a piece of cake (or whatever you say down under - haha!)

Good luck.

Talking Kindle Solved
Thank you so much for all your help, I have worked out how to download books into my kindle from my pc via one of the links that was provided...Project Gutenberg. I found out on another site that all I had to do was look in the start section then My Computer and there is a section there that I can open called Kindle. I put all the e-books into a folder then dropped them all into the kindle file and I found them in my kindle after I finished. So cheers and thanks maltasama and double helix!
