Unhappy Why Don't All Installed Programs Show Up In Add/Remove Programs List?
When I download a program & install it, sometimes it will show up in the Add/Remove Programs list, sometimes it won't. Why is that? And how do I remove a program that doesn't show up in the list? Thanks.

Depends how the application was written and what installer the author used.

If it does not show up in Add/Remove programs, it should have an "uninstall" file in the program's directory which would achieve the same thing.

The Add/Remove Programs List has interfaces that are called to place the information into its structure. That structure likely includes the Registry.

If an application program is programmed without calling those interfaces, then the information does not appear in the Add/Remove Programs List.

Removing programs that do not show up in the list is problematical at times and at other times poses no problems. The most troubling are when the application has entries into the Registry and the program is not totally uninstalled until the last vestiges of it are removed from the Registry.

Although not completly 100% true I have found that alot of legit programs which also contain some sort of spyware are usually the ones that don't show up in the add/remove programs like they have hopes that you will forget about them.
