Solved: Great Grandma wants to see my Grandson!
.... so you know this is important.

My lovely Daughter has taken several short videos of my Grandson with her cellphone.

They are quicktime files which I can play with no problem.

But my Mom is computer challenged, to say the least, and only is comfortable with Windows Media Player.

So I would like to convert these gorgeous "3gp" files into something that will play over Mom's Windows Media Player.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, no hurry.

LAN

Edit: COOL! I was able to zip & attach one of the files.

Ain't he just GORGEOUS!!!
Attached Files
File Type: zip Ayden 1.zip (285.3 KB, 14 views)

Lan,

Though there are numerous progs available that will convert one format to another ... the lady in question might like to try this FREE multi format media player.

Install. Run. Drag / Drop media file into play area, and let it 'do its thing.'

http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

Try it yourself first if you like.

Also - think about the kazaalite codecs pack at it allows media players to handle a wider range of file formats ( this is NOT kazaa the illegal file share network)

Kazaalite Mega Codecs Pack :

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...Codec_Pack.htm

If you check the link, you will see the latest version was released 20 Apr 07 ... and it is continually being re-released with more and more capabilities.

Install. Then reboot for the changes to take effect.

=======

If you still have no luck then post again.

Cheers.

She's not hep to installing quicktime, so I doubt she'll get through this either.

I was hoping to convert the files for her and email them to her to play on what she already has installed.

Any suggestions on a free conversion program I can use?

BTW, did you take a look at my Grandson?

Cheers mate,

Though, just for refs - the free Super Media Player can do the job of playing without any actual format conversion, since the codecs are preinstalled it really is a matter of drag drop and play.

Hope all goes well for your family.

Marking as solved. I haven't gotten a conversion yet, (after installing 3 different ptograms) but I'm hard-headed and determined.

Wonder what to do now?

Okay .... now I have it.

I convert these 3gp files (400K) to AVI (19MB) then I use the "Easy video converter" to save them as MPEG files (4MB). They have a watermark, but at lease I can email them now, and Great Grandma is jumping for joy.

She'd better not break a hip!

Lan,

The Yousendit site exists so you can share a file on your comp ... by simply emailing the intended recipient with a link.

Did you read ?

Edit - just reread the thread, and my yousendit link was not displayed correctly .... pls. recheck Post 11.
