Hi everybody, it worked! Excuse me for not catching on quicker to what you wanted me to do. I just don't understand computers really.

I did go to the msconfig... I did not see NkbMonitor

but I did see a Nikon start up and I unchecked that and it worked.

Ironically, now I get 2 little white ghosty windows that pop up from the bottom right bar. The first one is from Microsoft informing me that start up window is missing! ...aaagrh!

Then I get rid of that and another ones comes up which gives me offers to give me the "solution" to the missing startup window! ......aaargh!

Is it too much to ask, can I get rid of the new ones? I don't want anything popping up when I turn on the computer.

Thanks so much, everybody.

Hi, With all of your help, I got rid of the original problem which was the window that popped up when I start up my computer.

Now, because that is gone, I get a little white horizontally long box from Microsoft which pops up now from the lower bar that tells me one of my start up windows is missing. Now I have to get rid of that one.

Then another Microsoft long white windows pops up wanting to tell me how to get it back!

So, I got rid of what I want,
and now the micosoft windows are reminding me it's gone,
and do I want it back...

So, can I get rid of these Microsoft windows that are now bothering me?

Thanks for your imput.

You have to be more detailed than "one of my start up windows is missing"

Now that I have gotten rid of the original problem, a new one has appeared.

Now, when I start up my computer, this window comes on. This one is a Microsoft window.

It is horizontal, white, and pops up from the bottom right area.

It says:

Windows has blocked some start-up programs.
Windows blocks programs that require permission to run when Windows starts.
Click here to view blocked programs.

Then ANOTHER one of the same will follow, maybe 1/2 hour later or even after that.
If I don't click it closed, it will eventually "ghost" back to disappearing.

Can I get rid of this? thanks.

I wonder if the original poster is referring to the box that pops up saying the PC is running in selective startup mode (because things are turned off with MSCONFIG), then having to click ok to continue?

Hi, I did that and also checked the box "don't show this message again"

but this did not stop the white window coming up from the bottom. I also notice the row of icons on the lower right side of my computer. It is there. Maybe I have to find out how to remove it from this row of icons.

any suggestion on that? Thanks so much.

Part 2:
Should I try to take off all the hijack information I have posted here - for security reasons?
I feel weird all this information is here on the internet.
