Exclamation need help unzipping and extracting
Hello. I have the same problem and same driver needed. I clicked on the links you provided and found what I thought to be the right one (file name: KM266_Win2K-XP72.zip from MSI website and I used Server 1, then I tried to use winzip to extract it to a folder on my hard drive, but it won't allow me to use it when I have the Device Manager open to update driver). I am very confused and would really appreciate any help someone can give me as I have been at this for over 6 hours now already.
Thank you in advance for the help.
God bless,
Penne

You must first use Winzip to extract the files to a location on your hard drive. Once you have the files extracted you should go to where the files are extracted and see if there is a Setup or installation program that you need to run in order to install the drivers.

Otherwise you need to go to Device Manager and point the update driver wizard to the location where the files were extracted too.

It doesnt work
Thanks for the reply, but it is very confusing and isn't working right.

I downloaded the zip file. I went to winzip and there are now tons of files in there (I have no idea what I am looking for besides the setup.exe) so I selected all and hit the extract button. I sent all these files to my hard drive (a folder named computers). Ok, now when I go into this folder there is a folder named "setupdir" and has subfolders like 000a and 000b and 001e etc. But there is also all the other things I extracted such as "S3GM2CHT" (with a question mark above it) and more just like it with different numbers, then there are things that say "s3tray2" (with a box with an "S3" highlighted in yellow and a few others like it. Then down further there are a few SETUP icons. Now if I right click and open on the one with the computer as the icon (and a disk lying in front of it)Pro Savage DDR setup driver opens up and says to exit all other windows programs. I tried to double click and at first it brought something up but I exited out of it and now I tried again and nothing happens. When I go into Device Manager and choose to update driver this way and search on my hard drive the only folder that comes up is the "setupdir" under the KM266_Win2K-XP72 and it is all those sub folders I spoke about up above like "000a" and "000b" etc. I have no clue how to get the setup in device manager. Should I just try to do the setup through the icon with the computer and disk on it. It is all very confusing. Thank you very much for all your help.

If you extracted all the files, which you need to do, then you should see a file called Setup (setup.exe) thats an application file with a size of 59Kb. Thats the file you need to run to install the driver correctly. This file is not in the SETUPDIR folder but one directory back, in the KM266_Win2K-XP72 director or the Computer directoy if you changed its name.

Exclamation still not working. help!
I did extract all the files, I see a folder called Setup (the one with the computer icon where it has the disk on the right and a folder/box on the left in front).
It is not called setup.exe. It is 59 kb so I clicked on it and it said
"ProSavageDDR driver setup" then it said the progress log will be
in C:Windows\s3setup.log (but no driver).
The only thing in there is the actual setup log.
I tried to find the driver so I could go into Device Manager and right click
on multimedia audio controller and update driver that way but there is nowhere to go to find the actual driver. I do not see why there is no
driver extraced and installed when I follow what it says to do. I am very confused. Appreciate the help you have been giving me (and any in the future) as I am extremely frustrated at this point. Thanks again.

Are you sure you have the same motherboard? Is your computer a brand name system like a Compaq or HP?

Download SIW and confirm the motherboard model: http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html

I finally figured it out
Triple 6,
thanks, but I finally figured it out. See what happened was I did not know (nor was told) it was part of a combo motherboard. So when I went to the link all I saw was the one I thought it was and tried that. But it didn't work. then I saw it was part of the combo (from another thread altogether) so I went back in and found one I thought would be compatible and voila! it worked--yeah! so happy since I was at it for 3 days. I now have media player working fine. Thanks for all your help.

Ok, so it was in fact a different board; that would explain why the driver wouldn't isntall. Glad to hear you got it figured out.
