Did you try Add- Remove programs? Is there an uninstall feature in your Start menu associated with the program? Can you right click on it and shut it down? Have you looked for it in explorer? That's all I got, sorry.

Tried it all
Yes, I've tried all the usual methods of locating the file on my computer. It doesn't even show up at all doing a search.

Here is my hijackthis file:

Weather.com
This one is a free version from Weather.com but it is affiliated with Yahoo because the address bar shows : http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/USIN0464.html

The folowing is what I found on their site for uninstalling but since it is NOT listed in the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS there is no way to carry out the uninstall per the instructions they give.

Quote:
Can I uninstall Weather Services?
Yes, you can uninstall Weather Services. However, keep in mind that it is needed to properly run/operate Desktop, Desktop Max and our Screensaver products. If you uninstall it, you will no longer be able to operate any of these products.

Weather Services will be automatically uninstalled after you uninstall the last Desktop product from your computer system.

If you still wish to uninstall Weather Services from your system, thereby making all The Weather Channel products inoperable, please follow these instructions:

Uninstall all applicable products:

Max:
http://support.max.weather.com/ics/s...uestionID=1128

Screensaver:
1) Go to "Start/Programs/The Weather Channel"
2) Select “Uninstall” from the menu and follow the prompts

Free Version:
1) Exit out of the application by right clicking on the temperature icon in your system tray.

2) Go to "Start/Programs/The Weather Channel"
3) Select “Uninstall” from the menu and follow the prompts

Very frustrating....

Googled it.....
I googled "uninstall weather.com and this is what I found:

Quote:
I seem to be unable to uninstall Desktop Weather from my computer. What can I do?

This is a known issue with the product, and will be resolved in a forthcoming release. Copying the UNWISE.EXE from the Framework folder to the Desktop Weather folder will resolve this issue. The steps are as followed:

Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, Windows Explorer.
In the left scroll window of Windows Explorer click the + next to My Computer, then click on the + next to C: drive to expand the view.
Scroll down that menu until you find the Program Files Folder.
Double click on the Program Files folder to expand the view.
Scroll down that menu to The Weather Channel FW folder and double click on it to expand the view.
Double click on the Framework folder to display the contents.
Right mouse click on the icon that says "UNWISE.EXE" on the pop-up menu click on COPY.
Go to the tool bar on the window and click the Back button.
In that window right mouse click on the "Desktop Weather" folder and in the pop-up menu click on PASTE.

From that point you will be able to proceed as normal with the uninstall.
I'll try it and see what happens..... BRB

I FINALLY found the way to contact them. I sent an email question asking how to uninstall if I cannot find the file location.

STAND BY........ Hopefully they will send a reply.

It looks like you have The Weather Channel Desktop.
Control Panel>Add Or Remove Programs should show The Weather Channel Desktop, you said theres nothing there, so go to C:\Program Files\The Weather Channel FW
both the Desktop Weather and Framework folders have UNWISE, you right click UNWISE>Open and the uninstaller will run.

This sounds like malware, try PMing Cookiegal or another security expert and see if they can help remove it manually.

have you tried taking it off your startup menu ? that way the program is still on your computer but won't start unless you click the program and you don't have it listed.
