Unhappy internet explorer ads and banners
Hello All,

My problem is that internet explorer browses, but the ads and banners on some pages does not display, this could be a good thing, but it tells me that something is not right and it is annoying to see the blank spaces. In the ad or banner window the notice says: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. Is there something i can do?

Computer Info: Microsoft Windows XP, service pack 2; Dell Dimension DV051; Intel Pentium 4; CPU 2.80 GHz; 279 GHz, 0.99 GB of RAM.

Do you have any add-ons or have you ever changed your hosts file?

i know there are add-ons, and not sure about host files! Should i clear all the add-ons and start again with them. There are a lot of add-ons listed that are running w/o permission. The publisher: (not verified) Motive Communications, Inc. has more than anyone else.

Do any of the add-ons look like they are ad-blockers?

Browse to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC, see if there are many sites listed.

On making changes you should clear IE temp folder and close it down and the open it again to see changes you made to your setting.

Just as a test, download Firefox and see if it has similar issues. This will tell us if it's an IE specific issue or a system issue.

Well the same thing is going on in firefox, no discrimination going on, there are banners and ads that don't show, however when i went to the pa powerport page, firefox asked to install a plug in for adobe which i did and one of the ads kicked in. i've also downloaded hjt and attached the log if that helps anyone help me. there is a lot going on there, but i am not familiar with this software... thx!
