I get an error message that Google Desktop did not start successfully. I have tried to search the Forums, but can find no info.

Can anyone help>

First thing I'd do is uninstall the Google software and reinstall it using the latest installer: http://desktop.google.com/

Do you really need the Google Desktop? To me its just an extra thing to slow down the computer.

Is there an error code, or whats the exact wording of the message?

The exact message is "Google Desktop did not startup successfully. There is no error code. Nothing else is in the message. The title bar says Google Dektop problem, and there is an "OK" button to click. I guess the main reason I am interested in Google Desktop is so I can do the search on my computer that it offers. Thanks for any help.

You can still use Google to search by going to their web address. www.google.com

Windows Desktop Search offers the same capability as an alternative.
