I'll confirm it does want to delete some of spybots and spywareblaster's settings...but i'm sure that'll get worked out. They've finally given it a new look and it's beautiful. I've had no other real issues with it.

Sorry to re awake this thread, but the only thing i notice with the new avg is that it seems to interferre with things like spywareblaster as well as spybot immunize (which are basically the same thing) it will detect that and occassionally goes off over tracking cookies.

Do you have spybot or spywareblaster installed on any of your 6 machines?

I've got Spybot S&D 1.5 on the one machine I've upgraded so far.

The other machines I plan to upgrade have it installed as well.

Peace...

My only gripe:

You can't disable the LinkScanner without the icon in the corner going grey with the exclamation point acting as though something is horribly wrong.

The LinkScanner drives me nuts, it hogs the internet connection while it's scanning and all the little icons next to my search results annoy me, so I disabled it.

Thus far, I have it on my main desktop only. I haven't put it on my laptop or the other two house desktops yet. The server can't have it because it runs 2k Server. On that I use ClamWin, which I can't say much for, but I guess it works. Every time I log into it, it nags me about updates and updates fine, so I assume it's okay.

You can get rid of it:
Download AVG installation file again.
Go Start>Run, and type in:
c:\avg_free_stf_*.exe /REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_SafeSurf /REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_SafeSearch
(where "*" are symbols (letter/numbers) in downloaded installation file.)
Click OK.
It installs AVG over the top, but without LinkScanner feature.

Ah, cool. Thanks! I shall install it this way when I put it on my other boxes, and will eventually reinstall it to this that way.

You're welcome
I found out about this trick after installing 8.0.
I just ran installation over the top, and everything worked fine.

Okay, I'll just reinstall on this then when I get the chance.

Just noticed in your PC Specs you appear to be quad-booting 4 OS's...do you use them all and install AVG on them all? That must get boring

No. My main OS is Vista, and three others are installed on virtual partitions, using VMware.
In any case, since all OSes connect to the net, I had to install firewalls, and AVs on all of them.
I treat them as reference, practice, experiments, etc.
It's much more handy then multiboot.
