Exclamation Need Help Installing Norton Internet Security on a new Vista Ultimate Machine
I recently installed vista ultimate on my machine. Soon after, I was attempting to install a retail copy (purchased from a Best Buy) of Norton Internet Security. Apparently I am not able to proceed past the Norton Liveinstall because a prompt appears "Setup Stub has stopped working." A few minutes after, I get a promopt that says Microsoft Feeds Synchronication has stopped working. I have already disabled the UAP feature in Vista but I still get the same results. Is there something I should do here?

Do a little research on this bloated resource hog and don't install it at all.
Return it to the store and look into the many free alternatives.

Other Options
You could try NOD32 as they have been vista compliant since before rtm vista and is the best version of any security software currently on the market. http://www.eset.co.uk they do have a 30 day trial of both their AV and Security Suite solutions. Not only is it fast and extreemly thorough it is the only security software I have seen try to up date itself every hour you are online to help prevent infection - this is configured as default.

I now only sell their Security Software despite being a Symantec Partner ( I do sell their other software though)
.l

Dont just take my work for it, check it out.

And with regards to whether to pay or not - I have seen and regularly have to repair machines using free products - the product isnt very free when I have had to add my bill "cos" the program didnt do the job properly!

I see many machines using free products also, and have never had to repair any of them for related errors.
Never trust a salesman.

First you say you're a salesman, then you say you're not a salesman:
"I now only sell their Security Software despite being a Symantec Partner ( I do sell their other software though)"
Be specific about what errors were caused, and by what software. Nothing's perfect in this world, but I have removed McAfee and Norton many times for being error-ridden resource hogs that will cripple the average machine.
You are constrained by the limits placed upon you by your employer. I don't have that problem.

I dont have that problem either - I am an independant self employed Sys Admin who trouble shoots for clients. I have affiliations like many of us do but at the same time dont have any obligation to sell one product over another.

When I do reccommend a product I usually provide it to the client, but I am no salesman and I only reccommend products I would use or do actually use.

The reason I suggested the NOD32 software is that it does the trick and is probably the lightest security product on the market and yet has the highest reputation with "Virus Bulletin" who test all these products and provide industry accreditation. Dont take my word for it have a look for yourself. I was dubious at the begining but now 2 years into the product myself on my own machines I reccommend it with experience and my own money.

Anyway the character assasination does not help the person with the probs and of all the forums I help advise is always taken at face value. If you like it then use it if you dont then discard it
