MailStore- downloading from CD
I have MailStore on my computer and I love it. But I wanted to put it on a CD "with one click," I did this successfully. Now I want to check it to see what is on there.

So far I haven't been able to do it. When I go to the CD on My Computer there are some boxes that show up but I've tried clicking on all of them with no luck. One of them says the following:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
- <MailStoreDescriptor xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<Version>2.0</Version>
<UniqueID>ae8c619c-107e-4f52-8e77-2687e1b184c4</UniqueID>
</MailStoreDescriptor>

Can you help me see if my e-mails have really been saved ?

Thanks.

That's Mozilla Thunderbird
I use Mozbackup, which works perfectly. It backs up TD and FF:

I have Mozilla backup but I don't know what to do with it to find out how to move my MailStore e-mails to a CD.

You don't need mail store.
Run mozbackup. It will ask you where to put the backup. Make a note of where it is, and burn that folder to a CD.
It might be easiest to Create a folder first-call it MOZB or something.
Put the backup in there, burn it to a CD and for get Mail Store.
Mozbackup will also back up yourt FF Bookmarks.

I am definitely having trouble with this and I have tried it both ways that you suggested. Here's what I did when I went to Mozilla backup file I saved:
Welcome to Moz. Backup
Clicked Next. Chose operation Backup a profile and below that I picked Moz Thunderbird 2.0.0.etc. Clicked next.
Select the profile you want to back up. It says Default. Then I clicked Refresh. Then select the location of the backup file. Clicked on C:\ etc.My options were Browse/back or Cancel. So I clicked on Browse.
Got My Documents. At bottom it said File Name-Thunderbird etc. Clicked on Save and got the same screen that I started with at the top of this list, Got the same Mozilla Profile Selector again with Browse/Back or Cancel..
So I clicked the X at the top right and screen said, "The operation is not finished. Do you really want to exit the program?
Well, I really didn't but I didn't know what to do next.

When I burned MozBackup to a CD and then clicked on the CD I got exactly the same choices as I did at the beginning of this whole message.

So what am I doing wrong?

Thanks for reading all this but I felt that I needed to tell you exactly what I did.

Select the default profile, then the location (Don't click refresh).
Be sure you know the location. I have created a folder called Mozilla Backup just for this , and I recommend you do something similar.
When mozbackup finishes (This might take a while if you have a lot of mail and addresses) Burn the folder you created to a CD. You could also backup your FF favorites while you're at it.

I'm stuck right at the beginning. I selected Default and I did not click Refresh. My options were Browse, Back and Cancel. I didn't want Back or Cancel so I clicked on Browse opposite C:\Documents\Moz e-mail/backup.pcv.
I got My Documents window. Thunderbird 2.0.014en-US-2008-07 pcv was in the File Name slot. Next to Save as type was Mozilla backup (*pcv). I clicked on Save thinking it would appear in my folders under My Documents. It wasn't there. When I clicked away My Documents I was back at the beginning with Default selection.

Please don't give up on me. Ii just need step by every step.

You have to click "Default" (Highlight it).
The browse button is for you to select a location for the backup file.
Is "default" the only option? It should be, in most cases.

We're getting there...one tiny step at a time. Default already had a black spot in its circle so I didn't think I had to do anything else. I did highlight it and said No to "Do you want to password-protect the backup file?"
Then "Select the details you want to back up. Several were selected including, e-mails, address book, saved passwords, cookies, download file list and certificates.
I clicked on Next. All the above, except e-mails, were listed as OK. Task. Backing up e-mails. The backup was created and it said "You can read the report below." So I highlighted e-mails backup OK and clicked on my only choice, Finish.
So then I went back to my saved Mozback-up icon and the whole Welcome to Moz Backup starts over. If I click the X in the upper right corner it says,"The operation is not finished. Do you really want to exit?" Whether I click yes or no, nothing significant or forward moving appears.
And why, when it said that I could read the program below, wasn't there anything to read that I could check?

You have now backed up your email(I usually backup the address book as well).
The backup file is wherever you out it (You did create a backup folder , right)?
You were trying to run the program a second time when you clicked the icon, which is the reason you got the "not finished" message.
Copy the backup file to a CD or a flash drive, and you're done.
If you ever need to restore the file, just open Mozbackup and select "restore" instead of backup.

I put my MozBackup folder in a folder that I call "Seldom Used Programs." on My Desktop.I also see it in C/Program Files/Mozilla Thunderbird. When I click on that I see 10 folders and 32 files from Chrome to Defaults, to Thunderbird EXE to Xpistub.

Now, when I go to My Computer on files currently on the CD, MozTh (D and click on it I get MozBackup e-mails with a folder icon, and if I click on that I get Moz Backup on a colorful icon showing a blue CD on the right and a red something on the upper left. When I click on that, I'm back to the Welcome to Mozilla Backup AGAIN. Is that right? And, if it is, how do I use that CD to get my e-mails back if I lose them on my computer?

Thanks again.

Are the files on the CD from a previous backup such as the tone you were working on in May?

You're over-thinking this, and not following instructions.
Mozbackup is a very simple program that creates a zip file containing your profile, which includes your email.
In order to keep this simple, you MUST put the Mozbackup file in its own folder(You've mixed it with several other files).
After you create the folder (Try something like My Docs/Moz Backup), copy the entire folder to a CD.
Complete instructions are here:
