Can't move some MP3 files to flash
Don't know why this happened. Suddenly I can't move a couple of MP3 files off my desktop to a flash disk. I can email them, I can burn to disk. No problems there.
But for some reason, when I tried to move them off my desktop to a flash drive, I got a dialog box saying it couldn't be done. It wasn't even an error message. ??

I suppose I can delete them with no trouble as both are on a disk, but it's something I want to understand.

One of the files came from Amazon MP3 track downloads. I have been able to move other AMZN tracks to flash. The other file came from YouTube as an AVI which I converted to MP3 for the audio.

Any help appreciated.
Much Thanks
jayd

PS: what does "parse" here mean?

Threr is a limit to how many files you can have in a flash drive root directory, perhaps you are exceeding that?

Try creating a subdirectory and moving the file to that.

Parse:
To break down a string of information such as a command or file into its constituent parts.

"a limit to how many files you can have in a flash drive root directory, perhaps you are exceeding that?"

Hi and much thanks.
Are you talking about root directory on my computer hard drive or registry? Or on the flash drive itself?
On the flash drives in the past I have seen a message letting me know there was no more room on the flash drive.

Too bad MSFT doesn't allow for a simple copy/paste of some of those dialog boxes.
Can I put a screen shot in here?

Kiwi,
Thanks Much. Unbelievable! The problem resolved itself. ?? I didn't do anything.

All my scans show a healthy computer. No bugs, no virus or nasties. Go figure. After 3 days of hunting and playing with buttons and going nowhere, suddenly things work.

I do have another question tho on something unrelated.
Today, Microsoft sent out some security updrades as they do, and without warning (or asking) my computer restarted with no nudge from me. That surprised me. But after that, some things didn't work too well and when I tried to see just what the update was, I couldn't open the Windows Update link. I just got a window that kept telling me IE was not able to open the page. Then another update came along and it was a duplicate of the one already installed. So I did a restart and then I did a system restore.
Things okay but I have a feeling that when I boot again tomoro morn., I'm gonna see that little shield over in the sys tray. Any thoughts on that? I have XP btw.

Cheers and thanks again.
