Win98 Drivers
I need to find windows 98 drivers for my Presario 2940 laptop. I can't seem to get anything no matter what I search. I need drivers for every part of the laptop but I don't know where to find them. HP doesn't even have this on their record, so it's obviously not there. Every google search I made merely comes up with battery shopping. Understandable problem, and hopefully I can get some help. Thanks in advanced.

The HP/Compaq site doesn't bring up anything for a Presario 2940.

Look on the sticker on the bottom of the case and confirm what the exact model number is.

When you go into the Device Manager window, what does it list in the sub-menu of:

Display Adapter

Sound

Network Adapter

Modem

IDE Controller(or something like that)

???

Are you planning to format the hard drive and then do a fresh install of Windows 98?

Or have you done that already and now need the drivers?

I apologize, I was incorrect about the model I believe it's the presario 1681.

Thanks for the model number correction. I had better luck this time. This is the HP/Compaq site for the Compaq Presario 1681:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/p...&lang=en&cc=us

This laptop came with Windows 95 and appears to be a 1997-era model. With an Intel Pentium 233 MHz processor and 48 MB of RAM, Windows 98 is going to run like a snail in it.

There appears to be drivers for the display adapter, sound device, and 56K modem for Windows 95.

There appears to be drivers for the sound device and 56K modem, but not for the display adapter for Windows 98.
