Solved: Firefox starts with error message that I can't close
First thing this morning, I opened Firefox as usual, and it gave me an alert:

"Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (weather) isn't associated with any program."

I can click OK, or the x-box, or hit escape, as many times as I want, but the dialog box won't close. I have to open Task Manager and end task. But Task Manager doesn't say it's not respoding. Sometimes it just closes it, and other times it tells me Firefox is waiting for a response from me.

I've re-downloaded and reinstalled the program, but it doesn't help.

Have you tried opening Firefox with the Safe Mode option? Go to Start-> All Programs -> Mozilla Firefox and select Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). If that works then uninstall any Weather Add-ons you have in Mozilla.

Whats NIS? Norton Internet Security?

Does Firefox open in Safe Mode?

I didn't do anything to it, I just opened it up and it started (and continued) just fine.
