Uniblue Reigstry Booster found so many errors!
I have used Uniblue Powersuite for over a year without problems on my now old computer. I got a new one with Vista. I downloaded Uniblue and ran the registry scan. Before it was even halfway through the system files, it had found over 95,000 errors! That scared me so I stopped the scan. It was never like that on my old computer. Anyone know what's up or if I should be concerned?

They are not really errors. The program defines them that way to scare you. It's a scam and removing the entries will damage your machine. If you like your machine, stop using registry cleaners. After they have made "fixes", the incorrect entries that they have created are then seen by the programs as "correct". UniBlue is among the worst.

In addition, there is absolutely no useful purpoae to be served by "claening" the registry. It will only slow down your machine as it looks in vain for entries that have been butchered away.

You may not even notice the damage done until later when hardware won't install, programs malfunction, or repairs to the system are not possible. That is provided that you can even boot.

After I figured out how to use this forum (never been in a forum before) I found how to see what others have said on the topic. It seems that your opinion is the shared opinion on registry cleaners. Thanks for the info. I'm going to take this thing off my computers. So now that I have a brand new computer, what should I do to keep is as clean and fast as possible?

Oh and one more quick question: I stopped the scan before it finished so I didn't get to the repair step. Did that simply stop the program without problem or could I have done any damage?

Before it was even halfway through the system files, it had found over 95,000 errors!

As long as you didn't allow the scan to finish and then allow it to fix any "errors" that it found, your computer is fine.

A brand new computer and it's found over 95,000 "errors" before the scan was even finished? That shows you how accurate and reliable registry cleaners are.

------------------------------------------------------------------

So now that I have a brand new computer, what should I do to keep is as clean and fast as possible?

Many new off-the-shelf, factory-brand computers come with a lot of bloatware and demo and trial crap that you don't need. That's one good place to start to keep your new computer free of useless junk.

Scroll down the Add/Remove Programs list(it's called "Programs And Features" in Vista) and see what's there that you don't want. If you're unsure what to get rid of, post the list here and we'll assist you.

And don't install and uninstall programs just to see what they are and if you like them. This will cause a buildup of junk files, program remnants, and registry remnants. Besides slowing down your computer, it can generate error messages and program conflicts and other problems.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

By the way, this is the support and software site for your new HP Pavilion Elite n9500f desktop:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/p...&lang=en&cc=us

I suggest that you keep it in your favorites list so you can refer to it from time to time when needed.

I've already checked, and there's no new program or driver updates for it since it's been released.

Cool! Thanks for the useful info. I had emailed Uniblue's support to see what they suggested. They said they "weren't familiar with this issue" and they would need more info on my computer configuration. They just threw the ball back in my court, probably hoping I'll go away.

However, they did tell me how to get system info with SIW. That's kind of handy to have.

I'm glad I discovered this forum! Seems to be very helpful and UNBIASED. Much appreciated!
