this might be a bit of a shot in the dark. but can you do the following for me:

Click on START
click on All Programs
Hover over/click on the itunes folder within the Programs list
Now Hold down SHIFT (and don't let go)
click on the Itunes button within the Itunes folder mention above(i.e. the button that would open itunes) REMEMBER DON'T LET GO OF SHIFT.
a small window will appear (you can let go of shift now), and click on "create new library". save the library file somewhere sensible, create a new folder if possible as its easier to keep organised. and click OK.
If my plan has worked, itunes should now open without any problems. However there will be no Music in itunes. but dont panic. If it hasn't worked, itunes will simply break again.

Let me know how you get on.

hello again ric_james

I apologise for forgetting this but i have already solved a similar issue to yours for someone else on this site and completely forgot my apologies. can you do the following please:

1) press CTRL + ALT + DELETE >> click on the processes tab >> click on the first column (will be named "image name" or "name" or something similar) which will be filled with a lot of .exe files. by clicking it it will arrange it into alphabetical order. have a look to see if "itunes.exe" is in the list, if it is click on it once, then click “end process”. There will be a warning that pops up, if you are SURE it is itunes.exe it is you are ending, then click yes. Otherwise click no and make sure its itunes.exe you are ending. Try and load itunes from somewhere now.

If it works, then wooo if not then do as i say in my next post

again i apologise for forgetting this

right then, download this file: http://www.mediafire.com/?ynl0lctykly

[please note: in the event of the following causing any damage to your system , I nor anyone else at TSG will be held responsible for any of the damages] got to cover your back

anyhoo:

now go to where you saved it.
right click the icon and hit "extract files" and click ok.
an extracted folder will appear
once you have the folder open it up and you should have 7 .dll files in there and a .bat file.
copy the 7 .dll files into this location on your computer. "C:\WINDOWS\system32"
(OR you can just open mycomputer and type that in and it will bring you there)
if any of the .dlls are already in there just don't replace them.
but once you have those other .dlls in there double click the .bat file in the folder you just downloaded.
once you've done that... just close everything and restart you computer... open itunes and hopefully all should be well.

let me know how you get on

sorry if this doesnt work by the way

yes. I am.. good thing I didn't do that then ha. well I believe I have tried everything in the books to get this program to work. Hmm. I just don't know. Is there anything I can do by just starting out with the new downloaded programs, like any steps from there? Well just let me know what else we can do to try to get this program working, Thank you.

He just said, that if you are NOT running XP, you should NOT use the fix.
Since you ARE running XP, you CAN.

However, every single thing you will do to your pc, you can't blame this forum or anybody here. Since they are only trying they help you. Most people here are pro's and know what they are doing. Don't blame them if anything goes wrong

Howdy folks...

ric_james...

Have you tried uninstalling then go to C:\Program Files and look for the Itunes, Ipod and Quicktime folders and deleting them?

Sometimes when the uninstall finishes it will leave some files in the folders...
