What is "SmartViewer 2.0 for ProDVR"?
I'm cleaning up a laptop with XP on it, and I found smart viewer 2.0 for proDVR - what is it?

Sounds to me like it is some sort of software for either recording tv events in itself or reading data from a dvr to play them on the computer. Cant tell for sure without atcually looking at it. I would ask the person who owns the pc if they know what the software is, if not it is probably preloaded garbage that can be tossed.

Thanks; They're (fairly) computer illiterate but they didn't initially own the computer. The thing is i'll uninstall it and something fundamental will stop working... It's always the way with me and computers

It does not sound too important honestly so i would say its safe to remove.
