Synaptic pointing device
I have asynaptic pointing device on a Toshiba L300D Satellite laptop. Occasionally the pointer becomes very erratic flying all over the screen on its own. Ive also noticed that the icon in the tray no longer reacts to pressure and movement on the mouse pad. Does anybody have any ideas what the problem is and possible solutions.

If you have XP or Vista, the current driver version is 10.1.8.

After the new driver is installed, go into the mouse properties in the control panel. You can then select how you want the touchpad to be viewed in the taskbar.

Some Acer laptop models are touchy about the way the touchpad and keyboard works. Some Toshiba models may have the same problem.

Personally, I prefer using an external optical scrolling mouse with a laptop.
