The drivers on the CD are probably correct, but you can use support at the Dell site to enter your service tag and you'll find everything you need.

Windows XP drivers for Dell Dimension 3000 desktop:

http://support.dell.com/support/down...&catid=&impid=

---------------------------------------------------------------

Right-click MY COMPUTER, then click Properties - Hardware - Device Manager.

Click the + in:

Display Adapters

Network Adapters

Sound Video And Game Controllers

What's listed under each heading?

If there's a heading named:

Unknown Devices

what's listed under that heading?

You don't need to have an internet connection to give me the information that I requested in the Device Manager.

I'm trying to assist you in getting the necessary drivers, but I need the requested information first.

Does your laptop have a workable CD burner drive so you can burn a CD?

Yes, you can download the drivers from the Dell site and burn them off to a CD-R.

The sound drivers isn't a problem because there's only one listed - Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated Audio.

http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=122481

The wired network adapter driver isn't a problem because there's only one listed - Intel PRO/100 VE.

http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=103900

The video driver is a problem though because there's 2 different drivers - one for the Intel 865G and one for the Intel 845G/GL.

http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=137459

http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=104486

My guess would be to install the 845G/GL driver, but it would be nice to know for sure.

--------------------------------------------------------------

In the Device Manager, there's NOTHING listed for "Display Adapters" or "Network Adapters"?

Is there a heading for "Other Devices" or "Unknown Devices"?

---------------------------------------------------------------

The drivers for the display adapter, sound device, and network adapter all need to be installed.
