Have you uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes? Can you download in other applications without any problems (web browsers, etc.)?

You are welcome, and good luck! Please do post back about whether it solves the problem so that others with the same problem may benefit.

In addition to Rbalaji's good advice, you could also post up a question on the Itunes discussion forum
Bring up Itunes/help/itunes help.FAQ's and discussion forums.
Couldn't hurt to have more people looking.
Also, can you download your own music or audiobooks to Itunes and synch them to your ipod or player?
Also, just been browsing the itunes forums,if your laptop is a Dell, this might be a driver issue. If not "never mind"

Good luck, and as noted above, please let us know how you are doing with this.

You will find a number of posts regarding itunes freezing.with itunes 8.I did not see any great answers except the incident with the dell hybrid which turned out to be a dell driver issue.
One other suggestion was to disable any firewalls and antivirus's running.Don't know if that yielded any goodness or not but perhaps worth a try

Good luck and let us know if you make any progress.

Also, can we assume that you did not receive any error msgs before the freeze..
One other suggestion and this may not be do able and is certainly out of the envelope, but try this in safe mode if runnable in that mode. This would bring up a minimum of apps, maybe eliminating any resource or program conflicts that might exist.
Hokey,I know but what the heck
