Solved: Regseeker Registry cleaner
Has anyone got any ideas of the best Registry Cleaner. I have been using Regseeker for a while, but when I have selected all the errors it finds, and chosen to delete them, I find that if I re-run Regseeker, again it still finds some errors. Any idears as to the best free Registry Cleaners to use?

The best reg cleaner is None.
They can do more Harm than Good.

The only reg cleaner I'll use is a fresh system restore.

I second Noyb's opinion of registry cleaners. NEVER USE ONE !!

I would add that even if there is no damage done by a registry cleaner, the only possible positive effect would be an increase in speed and I've never seen that happen. Further, to supplement the fresh install as an alternative, I would suggest what i've used more than once. I keep an Acronis image of a fresh install with all programs and drivers. I then go into another image of the hard drives(s) made before I restore to the fresh install image and extract any files I wish to save (like e-mails and such). The versatility of Acronis never ceases to amaze me.

Regseeker
Thanks for your input. You are the second person to recommend not using a registry cleaner. I will take that on board. Thanks

You are the second person to recommend not using a registry cleaner.

And I'll be the third.

No matter what registry cleaners, boosters, optimizers claim they can do, they will do nothing to improve speed or performance.

What they will do is cause some programs to stop working, and even worse, damage to the operating system.

My favorite reg cleaner is the "sledge hammer". It leaves the system noticeably damaged but you do not have to go looking for the damage or waiting for it to strike later. It also feels so good when you are having hard times with your pc and allows you to end it's misery and buy new. So it's as destructive but right up front.
Count me as the 4th!

Rich:

Don't forget to cannibalize it for re-usable parts before you put a sledge hammer to it.

Reg cleaners
In the right hands yes
Back up first if you cant resist it

In exceptional circumstances they might be needed
Not a run of the mill tool

Glad I found this thread ! Answered my question about registry cleaners.
My Windows XP is running very slow - that's why I was considering a reg cleaner.
What can I do to regain normal operating speed (or increase it) - thanks - all the very best.

Sorry Donna, the answer is "never", There is never a situation that could improve by using a reg cleaner, let's not lead people astray here.

Hi crickit.. Pleased to hear this thread may have kept you from using a reg cleaner.

It's best if you create a separate thread of your own to address your specific question. That way we keep each thread unique and clear about the initial question.

Nothing tunes up a computer, or fixes all that may ail it ... Better than a fresh install.
Do you have everything backed up ???

Thanks for your reply - I will back up again - so by 'fresh install' you mean the original Windows XP operating discs? - and then copy what I want from the backup?
