Malwarebytes Question
Howdy All... After I recently finished updating Malwarebytes to v 3.8, I was just looking around the program and noticed something odd in the ignore list. A launch utility I use called RunIt has some of the elements listed twice. Once with the C:/ as an upper case and once as the c:/ shown in lower case. I've attached a screen shot of the list as shown in Malwarebytes/ignore list. Doesn't cause me any particular concern, but my curiosity is stimulated. I though perhaps the program dose that intentionally just to be sure it gets attention in case of a typo.

Opinons???

I would say it just means the program is case-sensitive and is picking up on two different path instances where the case is different so they get listed twice.

Logic would dictate that answer at least...

The fault in your logic, fairnooks, lies in the fact the upper case letter C normally represents the letter assigned to the partition/drive containing the OS, as it does in my computer. I can safely safe with confidence, there is no partition/drive with the lower case letter "c" assigned. I thereby concluded no such path can, or does, exist in my computer. So I would say it's still something of a mystery.

Does anyone else have anything even similar to this in their installation of Malwarebytes?

No I agree, it is in no way to be taken literally, after all, the "C" is only for human benefit, not the computer's; it isn't worried about the conversion to upper or lower case text for visual verification. We'd have a heck of a hard time methinks if we all had to read address locations for everything...and even that would be representative. So the logic holds strong...but as I said, it dictates that answer, doesn't mean it is the answer.

I think "fairnooks" is correct. It's just a detection oddity.
Remove them from the ignore list and let M-bam detect them again.
Add them back to the list and see which one it is.

I guess my computer is confused.
If I enter "C:\"in the explorer address bar, it takes me to the same place as "c:\".
Unlike some other OSs, Windows is not case sensitive in regard to file names.
