I've seen some pretty positive comments about Google Chrome and have a couple of questions before I decide to give it a tryout.
Is it as customizable as FF? I like a clean interface with a minimum of extras (see Desktop screen shot). No superfluous toolbars, messengers, ads. Does Chrome have compatability with RoboForm? Is it compatible with Free Download Manager? (with FF, I have Flashgot add-on to use FDM). Can i assume Chrome is a tabbed browser?
Thanks for any input... But im sure roboform will work with it, its worth a shot at least. Doesnt hurt to download and try, its a pretty compact program. | | Distinguished Member with 4,361 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Annapolis, MD Experience: Intermediate | | It's lean and fast, but I think it has a way to go to catch up with FF.
Well worth experimenting with. | | Distinguished Member with 3,880 posts. | | Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: Santa Barbara, CA USofA Experience: Advanced (kinda) | | Thanks to all for their responses. I've downloaded and will give chrome a test trial.
I'll go ahead and mark this thread "solved"

Obviously, I installed it and gave it a brief (very brief) tryout. I immediately found I did not care for the interface or page layout. When I proceeded to open various sites that required signin (including TSG), I found I had to log in all over again. Chrome apparently creates it's own cookies and does not utilize existing cookies, even though I'm pretty sure the import process when I installed it included cookies. Activating full page (F11) resulted in the browser window covering my task bar even though it is set to "Always be on Top". After accessing TSG, when I attempted to change from "All other Software" to "Hardware", it took a really long time to get that done. It didn't take me long to decide it was more trouble than it was worth, at least for me. Besides, I'm really happy with Firefox.
So I opened my Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs and clicked "Remove" on the Chome browser. The uninstall process took about 2 seconds. It immediately opened my dialup ISP and opened a page for Google asking me why I chose to uninstall the browser and what they could do to improve it. I entered a condensed version of what I've typed here and closed my browser.
Then I ran a search on my C:/ drive for Chrome and found about 7 entries in various places with the same date as the day (today) I installed the browser. Next I open Run/regedit and searched the registry for chrome entries and found none.
