Question winMX through a router
I have a Linksys router. I have two computers. One computer downloads and uploads fine, the second computer will not. I have gone into the setting for the router, and in forwarding set up the tcp port 6699 and udp port 6257 for the seperate ip's of both computers. with windows XP, in the firewall settings I have added the ports in each computer for their respective IP's. Anyone experience this situation at all? If so what did you do to correct it? My lady and I both enjoy music and want to be able to get our particular music we enjoy. Hope for some help. Most Frantic about this

yes, i have done all that, and also gone into the 192.168.1.1 of the router and setup the forwarding for the ip's of each computer, there is no visible reason I can see for only one puter to be able to do anything on winmx and not the other, hehe

frantic more so

Okay

Looking at this one:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.bucha...sys%20BEFW11S4

the setup may be similar, but the IP address is set to as follows:

Quote:
Log into the Router from your web browser (http://192.168.1.1)

4… Under 'Service Port Range' enter 6699~6699, Protocol = TCP, IP Address = 192.168.1.100
5… Under 'Service Port Range' enter 6257~6257, Protocol = UDP, IP Address = 192.168.1.100
The reason why I quoted this, is that you mentioned setting the router as 192.168.1.1 as suggested, but not sure if you set the others the same.

currently i have in the router config:

port 6699 set for 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101
port 6257 set for same ip's

i also set up in the firewall settings the same ports in each machine. it continues to be only the .100 machine albe to send and receive .... darn

I'm not that 'up' on routers, but if you look at this:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.bucha...portant%20Note

have you done all of that? Just trying to get a grasp of things.

Having a similar issue but can't get the main pc running winmx to use a primary conncetion. Secondary works fine. I used the 101 suffixed ip address because that is what my ip showed as when running ipconfig. Should I have used the 100 instead? Also ... do I need to reboot?

FYI: I can get on ... but can't find even very common songs using the primary connection method.

Tidalcloud:

What is your router, and the version?

What are the port number that you have set up in the Incoming TCP Connections, and In/Out UDP Connections?

BobFrantic:

And your settings in WinMX: are they the same? For example, look here:

Settings | Internet Connection. Incomming TCP Connections. And In/Out UDP Packets.

Are the numbers of the ports in there the same as the router, ie 6699 and 6257 respectivly?

Yes they are. I used the 101 suffixed ip. I have gotten it to work now but find the primary connection to perform worse than the secondary. Maybe because I have only one way cable modem.
