Exclamation No boot options or post?
Hi,I'm trying to fix my cousin's computer and i am unable to boot the computer from a cd or usb device because when the computer starts up, it automatically goes to something like "enter hdd password". once u enter the password it goes straight to the windows bootloader. there is no POST or anything that allows me to choose how i want to start up. How can i remove this password? It goes straight to the bootloader after the password prompt comes up. There is nothing to do prior to this. How can i fix this? I need to be able to boot from cd and hopefully remove this hdd password! Also i cannot access bios due to the password prompt and the automatic windows bootloader that comes after. I am seeing no way to access bios whatsoever. However i can still boot into windows and surf the internetand etc, so if i can do anything from there please do advise.

Please post the brand, and model of the computer so we know what we're dealing with....

Also, what version of Windows is it runnin?

When I get that info I can move your thread for you....it will be better off in the Operating System forum.

By the way- If the computer is a notebook or laptop, look underneath for a tag or label the model etc is there.

Hi,

Acer notebooks have a very strong security management utility.

An Acer owner should know about this security, at least enough to know how to find help with it.... if you or the cousin is technically not the OWNER I strongly advise you not to mess around- you can lock yourself OUT and it would take a total reformat and full reinstall to set it straight.
Our site does not allow help with removing passwords or workarounds for lost or non-working passwords, etc.

Acer support pages for Aspire 5520 notebook

http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers...k/as_5520.html

What I will do is point you to the location where you can get the user manual for this notebook model, in it it does explain about Acer eManagement which I think is what you are running into here. Read the manual. Or, ask Acer support for help.

I will also have to Close the post.
