Recovering data emptied from Recycle Bin?
I didn't like the way the "My Documents" Folder had all this other bullcrap in it so i created a new folder with called "My REAL Documents." This is where i put all the stuff that was ACTUALLY my stuff (No "AppData," "Link," "Favorite," "Searches," or other BS that's not really my files (i'm kinda OCD). So i moved all the things that were really mine into this "My REAL Documents" folder, and these included:
>"My Music"
>"My Pictures"
>"My Videos"

When i did this those folders were not moved like all the others, they seemed to have been copied into the new location. So i checked to make sure that everything i wanted to keep from those folders had in fact been copied to the new locations, and deleted all the files from those folders (no need to have the same things in 2 locations).

What i didn't realize is that even though they appeared to exist in two separate locations, their icons in these separate locations actually referred to the same "My Music, "My Pictures," and "My Videos" folders.

So when i deleted their contents from one location, it deleted them from both locations (because there never really was 2 locations). And then i promptly emptied the recycle bin <---Fatal mistake.

I hope i'm making sense.

If i am- does anyone know if it is possible to retrieve this lost data from which i emptied from the recycle been?

All those who invest a moment's time in my issue will indeed have eternal treasure awaiting them in the afterlife.
Thanks in advance,

-Grant

If you stopped using the drive those deleted files were on immeadiately, and I mean immeadiatly, then there's a chance to recover them all with recovery software.

You migt even try a simple undelete program but if you've continued using the drive, chances go down on both number of files and non-corrupted files you might retrieve.

For future reference, the folders you reference are treated as "special" folders by the OS and need to be moved in such a way that Windows will recognize the new location (right clicking on the folder will give you a move option) instead of tracking a new location merely as a shortcut back to the old.

Your system actually needs most of the junk you tried to delete. You may run into various problems now that system files and folders are missing. I've seen a lot of people run into problems trying to "clean" their computers. What you consider junk, Windows considers necessary. It's best to leave alone files and folders you didn't create.

You can try a program like Recuva, but things could be ugly regardless since you're dealing with system folders.

Thanks for helping, guys. Yeah, I almost wanted to delete all of that stuff in the "My Documents" folder, but I didn't for the reasons you just mentioned. I actually only deleted the content of the 3 media folders I specified. So sounds like there's software out there for this issue, huh? I'll check it out. Thanks again.

I believe you can recover that data with decent recovery software. The free one I know is Recuva, you can try it. I personally used Advanced File Recovery, it coulg recover even deleted pictured from SDHC Memory Card
