I Need Help With IP Address Problem With Craigslist
I currently live in San Antonio but do most of my business in Austin. Since most of my work is in Austin, I would like to list there on Craigslist from my office in San Antonio but it will not let me.

Apparently, Craigslist uses some kind of Geography program that wont let you list in other cities.

My question: Can I make my IP address appear that it is coming from Austin? I have roadrunner with a cable modem.

Your help would be appreciated.

Craigslist does not check IP supposed locations. I have posted in cities other than where I live. What is probably the issue is that you may have accidental viewed, or posted, in that other city (I did that once, and I finally had found this out). The Craigslist cookie "remembers" that location. Just force the area by purposefully selecting some other city.

At the worst, you may have to either delete your Craigslist cookies, or just clear them all out.

They use something called a geography filter that will not let me post in any other city. I need it to look like my IP is in Austin.

I beg to differ. Sorry, I don't believe it, at least not what you describe. I, just this past few minutes, just posted two different items on two different Craigslists, in two different states, just to see if I could.

I could. I did. You are wrong.

And the answer to your question, can you make your IP appear different, I would say not. You might be able to hide your location using a website that allows "anomymous surfing" but that might not be what you think it is.

OH!! and as a further test, I just now posted to the Austin Craigslist too. So that is 3 different cities that I just posted. Need further proof?

My friends post their Packer tickets for sale all the time in the oppossing teams city. So there is no filter as far as I know.
