Internet Explorer 8
Has anyone upgraded to IE 8? Are you having problems with it? Please let me know. I had problems on my old pc and now I am being prompted for it upon updates and I refuse to do so until I get some feedback as to whether there are any issues with it.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Well, with so many problems reported so far, only here on TSG, I would wait a few more months until Microsoft sorts out the remaining bugs with it.

This is a support forum. People generally only post if they have problems.

I think it's a perfectly legitimate question, like asking for the best antivirus to install...

bizwiz2004:

Which version of Internet Explorer are you currently using?

If you're not sure, open Internet Explorer, then click Help - About Internet Explorer. The version will be listed.

When you get prompted to install updates, choose Custom Install. Uncheck IE8, then click Install to install any others (or Close I think it says if there are no others, do not click Cancel). You'll be prompted if you want to be notified again, check the box so you won't be notified, then click OK.
If you uncheck IE8, then click Cancel, it won't offer to hide it.

If you're using IE7, that's fine. It's not mandatory that you install and use IE8.

Go to the Windows updates site and choose the "custom" scan like TheOutcaste suggested.

When the entry for IE8 appears, click the + to expand it. There should be a box that you can check that allows you to hide that update.

It's not the browser being used that invites spyware. It's the surfing practices and habits of the user that does.

The new Firefox 3.5 has a tabbed interface: pop-up blocker/built-in multiple search tools: and built-in RSS reader, it handles nice and is always stable. The spellcheck for text boxes uses the familiar dotted colored lines under words . although the others has this feature. If you need an Extension for something, the Firefox extension capabilities are powerful, and easy to use. It's also offers many theme's. I have been using Firefox since day one and compared to the other's, it is in a class by itself although Opera does come extremely close...
