I see what you mean, I just got one too. But I went into tools/options/advanced/update and switched off the automatic update feature. At least that way I can update when and if I decide to rather than have it thrown in my face all the time.

With IE8 I've decided to get rid of it. there are 2 issues which I can't deal with, one is the manage addons pop up which happens every few seconds. And worse in that it won't allow me to conduct business on certain sites is the pop up blocker which stubbornly blocks necessary menus even when it is switched off. Honestly, that seems like a huge fault. But when I went to add/remove programs I can't see IE listed there at all. How to uninstall?

Having it in the toolbar is almost as good I guess, but you have to do twice the work, opening the menu then selecting your action. Can FF allow Roboform to function normally? (ps. I was born in Santa Barbara!)

Thank you very much to everyone for all the constructive advice and feedback. Very helpful!
If you wish to continue using Roboform with FF, you must install the Roboform toolbar add-on.

To do so, do the following:

1. Open FF.
2. At the top of the window, click "Tools"
3. Select Add-ons' from the drop-down menu.
4, In the popup window (see attachment 1), if not already showing Add-ons, click the "Get Add-ons" button. Now click "Browse all Add-ons"
5. In the search box enter "Roboform". Leave the second box as is and click the search button. You should get a result as shown in attachement 2.
6. In the Add-on titled ""Roboform Toolbar", click the "Add to Firefox (windows)" Button.
7 Following installation you will get a dialog window saying you must restart Firefox to complete the installation. If FF has not already been shut down, do so and launch it again. The Roboform toolbar should install and be present near the top of the browser window. You use it the same as you did with IE.

Be sure to go into "Options" in Roboform and click "Log-in Browser" in the left pane, then select Firefox in the right pane. (See attachment 3)

You can add or take away the various toolbar functions by right-clicking on a blank area of the Roboform toolbar and selecting "Customize". Simply left click and drag whatever tools you want or don't want back and forth between the tool window and the tool bar.

Perhaps you are not looking in the right place on the Add/Remove list. I do not have IE8 installed, but do have IE7. As you can see in the attached screen shot, Its at the bottom of the list labeled "Windows Internet Explorer 7", not under Microsoft as one might expect.

Thanks Raybro, I got the roboform toolbar happening, which is cool. Now, by any chance do you know how to unlock the toolbars so you can move them around to how you like them organized at the top of the browser? In IE you can unlock the toolbars, drag and adjust them how you like, then lock it in place. Do you know if FF allows that? At the moment it doesn't want to let me move them at all, kind of like IE behaves when they're locked.

The Roboform toolbar has its own customization feature. To add, remove or change the order of the Roboform tools, right-click in an empty area on the Roboform toolbar and select "Customize Toolbar". The rest is pretty self-explanatory.

To add, remove or move any of the symbols in the FF toolbar, right-click in the empty area next to "Help" and select "Customize". a popup window will appear with a "Hand" which, when you move it over any given symbol and left click, will "Close" thereby allowing you to drag it to either change its position on the toolbar or remove it by dragging it back to the popup window.

You can move the Roboform toolbar up between the standard tools and the address bar by moving the mouse over the separator line so a doubled ended arrow appears and left click-drag it to where you want it including up next to the FF symbols. See the attached screen shot of how I have mine set up.

yeah, for some reason my toolbars are locked. I try to move the mouse over the left edge of a given toolbar, which in IE causes the mouse to become the double arrows, then allowing me to drag the entire toolbar to wherever I want. I can't seem to do that in FF and I don't know why.

To clarify something. There are two ways to get the Roboform toolbar. One is to check the Roboform Toolbar in the right-click list that shows 3 toolbar choices (see screen shot 1). The other is to leave that unchecked, open the Customize window and drag the Roboform Toolbar from the Customize window to where you want it (see screen shot 2).

You can also see in the first screen shot, I have rearranged my tools and address bar so they are all in the upper section next to the main menu all in one line. When the Customize window is open you can move any of the segments around to suite you. Compare this screen shot to the one in my previous post (#20) to see the difference. You can do this ONLY when the Customize window is open.

Hello dbailey, I tried lunascape and it seems pretty cool, except that once again roboform isn't working. It's there, and the toolbar is working fine, as far as being visible that is... but functionally it isn't popping up and offering to fill in forms like normal and the passcard for a current page isn't displaying in the toolbar like it normally does. Unfortunate, because I'm liking the whole package otherwise...
