ActiveX control
We have a new Acer Aspire 5332 lap top and are trying to use same for the internet etc. Do we need to download various progrmmes in order to support these activities. For example we are being asked to download ActiveX control - is this in order or harmful to our computer. If so, how do we know which programmes are useful or harmful. Please help.

various websites use activex some are OK - some may be good
Depends on if you trust the website

Adobe for example run an activeX to download adobe reader and its fine
Pornsites may want to run an activex and i would not allow that to run

Martin:

Certain multimedia programs and plug-ins are required in order to view all the content of websites.

Adobe Flash Player activeX (for Internet Explorer)

Adobe Flash Player plug-in (for Firefox and other non-IE browsers)

Sun Java Runtime Environment

Apple QuickTime
