Suggestions on Software after reformat
You guys are the GREATEST!

I just had a problem solved and figured I might ask the experts the following since you've been so great.

Fresh and reformatted computer...software suggestions?

I've downloaded the following,
- msft office pack for the short term for my studies
- Avira anti-virus
- GOM player
- Itunes for music

I use the computer for school work and watching movies...little else...therefore if there is anything to get rid of 'standard' windows applications I'll never use that could be nice as well.

Any advice would be awesome.

THANK YOU AGAIN!

Windows firewall sucks. Get a free one... Outpost (which I use) or Onine Armor. Be sure to turn the windows firewall OFF.

Two additional programs (also free) for scanning for malware. Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware. Always update them before running scans. Its safe to remove anything found and pre-checked.

I recommend Firefox alternate browser. Its much safer than IE and a lot less problems. Very customizable and easy to use. Built in password manager and download manager. Its also FREE.

About Avira. If you want to get rid of the splash screen (the one that comes up during bootup load) AND the nag screen (the one that wants you to buy the pro version), click here to learn how.
