I am running Firefox 3.5.4. It keeps disappearing ! Have updated java in case it was that. When it has disappeared there is no trace of it in applications running. Any ideas ?
Thanks

What do you mean by it keeps disappearing? A browser doesn't just disappear.

By the way, Firefox 3.5.5 is out.

If you mean that Firefox is crashing, try starting in Firefox safe mode.
If it runs ok, then it is an extension or theme effecting it.
Also update Firefox as flavallee suggested.
Here are other causes that you can see if effecting Firefox.

It really does just disappear, not crashes. Have tried safe mode, same problem.
Will upgrade to 3.5.5 to see if that helps
Thanks for replies.

Are you saying that it isn't running when you look at Task Manager? Or does it just disappear from the task bar?

Update ...
Uninstalled Firefox. Installed latest 3.5.5. Same problem
Updated Flash - same problem.
Seems to disappear immediately if I click on ' browse ' when going to upload anything. Same if I click on 'Save as' if I try to save a page.
If I have Firefox open in 2 windows. Both disappear.
Does that give any more clues ?
Thanks for your support !

I've had the same problem on my system, and I haven't found a resolution yet.

Try and Create a new Profile and see if your profile is corrupt.
Uninstalling and updating doesn't remove your old profile.

Tried creating new profile, same problem
Getting worse now - Firefox will not start most times I try !
Maybe virus or similar prob ? Hope not !! I am running Kaspersky Internet Security 2010. Did full scan, but no problems identified.
Using Google Chrome now but would like to get to bottom of Firefox prob.

The problem with Firefox disappearing from the taskbar is not the same as it not starting or crashing. How do you know it's not starting? Does it not appear in task manager? Are you watching task manager? You can press ALT+TAB to scroll through open programs to get back to Firefox if it's missing from the task bar.

It's not on the task bar or in task manager.
When I press Alt+Tab Firefox is not there

Hello

Peter.smart, i've got the same problem, try clicking the my security zone tab on the Kapersky main page, on that tab you'll find Safe Run (Sand Box), if firefox is listed in this box then delete it, this might be the problem, it was for me. Good luck
