If you save a document in word, does it save as .doc or .docx? I'd guess the latter. If in doubt you can check using windows explorer: browse to the folder where your word documents are saved and make sure that the "Hide extensions for known filetypes" option is unchecked in Tools->Folder Options...->View.

If that is your problem, then you can solve it by opening the document in word, choosing File->Save As... and saving in Rich Text Format or in legacy word format.

Word 2007 by default saves in a new format(.docx) that is not readable in older versions of Word without extra conversion packs.

You can use the File -> Save As-> option to save the file in "Word 97/2002/2003" format and they should be able to read it.

A resume.

That's the 3 syllable pronunciation (as in "rez-zu-may" (it's French), not the 2 syllable "re-zoom" meaning a continuation.)

What does the abbreviation C.V. stand for?

Oh, I just did a Google search and found "CV" meaning curriculum vitae (loosely translated as course of life).

But that was CV, not C.V. as you had written.
