I haven't used messenger for a few months but tried to log on a couple of days ago. It told me I
had to install the new version so, unwillingly, I did.
Once it had gone through the massively lengthy process of downloading and installing the ridiculous amount of rubbish it now requires it attempted to start. All I got was a window telling me that it encountered a problem and needed to close. This was the error signature...
AppName: msnmsgr.exe AppVer: 14.0.8089.726 AppStamp:4a6ce533
ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 ModStamp:00000000
fDebug: 0 Offset: 02050560
I've since removed everything from add/remove programs that mentions "Windows Live", rebooted, reinstalled and rebooted again. It didn't help and I'm still getting the same thing happening.
There are lots of posts on here where people are having problems logging on or getting cams to work but I couldn't find anything like this.
All I want is for messenger to let me chat to my friends and maybe see them once in a while. I don't need all the other stuff that MS decides is a must have app. The old pre live app was perfectly adequate for my needs but MS in their infinite wisdom have decided that I can no longer enjoy chatting without the very latest singing and dancing version. But, oh look, its not working
