ccScvHst.exe - Application error
This states"The instruction at "0x6ef 16382" referenced memory at "0x0ba61000".
The memory could not be read. I have a choice whether to debug or terminate. Either action seems inert and useless - the box appears ad infinitum.

Please click here to download and install the HijackThis installer.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Do not fix anything

After sending the log I rebooted and the text box did not appear. However there has not been time for Trend Micro Hyjack to do anything with the log so I'll wait a while to see what is really going to happen!

The error is related to your Norton product.

Try THIS.

If no luck, try uninstalling Norton using the Norton Removal Tool and reinstalling it.

Thank you for advice. Your colleague handling the concurrent "Symantec Service Framework" problem made me uninstall and reinstall Norton 360 as Plan B. This seems to have solved both problems. I shall believe it if the two annoying text boxes don't show up tomorrow.

Thank you Phantom010 for getting rid of the Symantec Service Framework textbox and the ccScvHst dialogue box.
You are obviously very skilled at solving these problems.

I solved my problem a few months ago by getting rid of Norton 360, completely. I had used it for a couple of years, but I got so angry at not being able to get one of their 'tech support' people to speak intelligible English!

Out of 2 or 3 dozen contacts with their "support" people, I felt really lucky one day when one of them spoke English fluently! (All the others had foreign accents so strong, I couldn't understand them (India, Pakistan, etc.). They couldn't understand me, either!) It made me feel like each of them was residing in some tiny grass hut with a laptop, a 3-ring binder with "steps to try," and a phone cord 1 mile long for internet connection!

Even then, that person could not solve my very simple issue with Norton 360. Finally, I found the solution after I had a vivid dream at night. The next morning... I solved that particular issue. I fired Norton's the very next morning. I wish you better luck than I had with them. I used Norton's Utilities since Peter Norton created it over 20 years ago. But, it's no longer the same company with the integrity as it once had. This is only my opinion based upon my experiences.

Norton 360 experiences
Thank you senior OLDFART (I might pull rank being 91) for your experiences.

I had Norton's ordinary Internet Security 2009 and when it ran out I bought 360.3 i.e. 2010 vintage which covered up to 3 (I only have 2) computers which seemed a good buy in spite of misgivings of learned friends.

The only trouble I had was the persisting two text/dialogue boxes mentioned, and when I had removed and reinstalled 360 all was suddenly well - no more boxes.

Perhaps the 2010 vintage 360 is less liable to misbehave than earlier versions. It seems fairly harmless to me just now.

If I have to eat my words later I'll tell you. It would be nice be able to to avoid having to analyse problems with heavily accented gents in far off lands.

PS from George. The nuisance did not arise when I installed Norton 360 in my Evesham C510 laptop, which seems to be well-behaved, just as well, since poor old Evesham is no more. I always found their service good.
