Xosl
Has anyone ever used Xosl to dualboot multiple operating systems? I want to try it out as I have to redo all the hard drives on my desktop and was just wondering if anyone has given it a try and if they ran into any problems or found it hard. I think I have it all figured out just looking to see what others thought. I embedded Xosl into a freedos live cd and will be installing Xosl to a 1gb partition, will this create any problems?

Haven't heard about anyone use XOSL in years. As far as I remember it has not been actively developed or maintained for several years, but it looks like it has a small following of people who still use it. I don't know of anybody who uses it here. A 1gb partition is serious overkill for a XOSL partition. You don't need that much.

Ive seen it run by numerous school boards and have never seen any problems with it, guess I will have to give it a try I think it is still maintained not to sure I think it got pair up with a few different programs if im not mistaken.

Do you have any suggestions as to other boot loaders that will work, im looking for one that will override the grub and mbr of linux and windows as I need to host about 6 different OS's.

Ik 1gb is over kill will most likely drop it to 100mb or less Im rumming 2TB of HDD room so im not to to worried about space.

If you read the documentation you will see that you probably only need about 2 Megabytes for the XOSL partition.

Even with XOSL, you still need GRUB to boot Linux.

Ya Ik that it only needs about 2mb just figured it was easier to give it its own GB of room will prob give it 50gb then, I mainly want to use it so that windows and linux and all the different flavours of linux will get along as whenever I use just the grub loader I end up with a ton of problems, and Xosl will allow me to quickly norton ghost my systems.

This is how I was thinking of setting the system up, keep in mind I have 2 HDD's at 250GB a piece

HDD #1

Xosl = 50mb Logical
Windows XP = 90 GB Primary
Linux Kubuntu = 40GB Primary
Linux Swap = 4GB Logical
Windows XP Forensics machine = 30GB Primary
Back Track 4 = 15GB Logical
Open Suse = 15GB Logical
Windows Server 2008 = 20GB Primary
Windows Server 2003 = 20GB Logical
Free Space = 16GB roughly

HDD # 2

Game installs = 150 GB Primary
Install Images = 95 GB Primary

I will also have norton ghost somewhere on there havent decided where yet, does anyone see any problems with that hdd setup?
