directX and windows?
I understand that you can install two directX in win 7 and Vista ( for example directX 11 and direcgtX 9 ). My questions:

1. Can I install more than two directX?

2. How about win XP?

Dont think xp allows you to have more then 1 pretty sure it forces you to over-write the one you have installed with the one you are trying to install, however I could be wrong.

As far as windows seven and vista im not sure but I cant find anything on the internet saying you can install more then one version on xp as its not really a program and you have to install it to the same drive as the OS. As for 7 and vista it may be possible however I dont think it is.

I am sure that win 7 and win Vista allow you to install at least 2 directX.

Both correct and incorrect. Win 7 does include DX libraries for all the above except it only has core libraries (just to have version compatibility in place). To avoid problems with DirectX and missing libraries (especially for games that need 9.0) I recommend you run the DX Web Installer from Microsoft. It will scan your computer and install the commonly needed libraries. Over 90% of the time this will fix your issue.

might answer your question better then I can

Actually, my statement "I am sure that win 7 and win Vista allow you to install at least 2 directX " IS CORRECT. In win vista, and win 7 many directX can co-exist although when you installed windows only one directx is installed. This is different from many windows softwares such as .net framework, where only one version exists.

Yes previous versions will coexist with the newer version of direct x sort of like being backwards compatable with older version is that what you are getting at?
