Angry Monitor Giving "No Signal" Message, Help!
After running into an internet connection related problem, I did not use my computer for about 3-4 weeks, and just today I started it up and to my surprise everything worked fine. I noticed there were some updates available and shut down my computer so they could be updated. I also needed to move around some cords so it would be more comfortable to me, being impatient of seeing "Update 19 out of 54" for about 10 minutes, I was forced to power down in the worst way possible, yes, I pressed the power button on the back of my tower, I figured it wouldn't matter seeing as I was shutting down anyways. When I turned my computer back on, my computer would boot up, and just run like it always did (making beeping noises about every 45 seconds, not sure if it always did that or not), except for the fact that my monitor light would stay orange (stand by I beleive), and when I would turn off my monitor and turn it back on, it would have a "No Signal Digital" message displayed on teh screen for about 7 seconds, and then it would be all black. I checked my cables, especially the monitor related ones, and they are all correctly positioned, my graphics card is a Radeon 2600XT, please help me if you can, thanks.

You should never shut computer down while it is updating, guess you know that by now...even though it was taking a long while, which it would do,having that many updated to do ....

The only thing I can suggest is that you go into safe mode when booting up by tapping F8 and once in that start the computer with last known configuration, or try a system restore ....

Check that the monitor connections are pushed fully home before doing this of course at both ends ....

Well, as a matter of fact, when I boot I have to press F8 and choose to boot to my hard drive in order for my computer to actually boot. Not, I would do that except I have nothing displayed on my monitor, all black, that is the main problem.

Can only suggest you try another monitor or even different leads from monitor to computer if you are certain they are pushed fully home,Im a bit worried about this moving around of cords you talked about to be honest,Im definitely leaning towards the fact that your problem lies here somewhere....something of some sort should be showing on your monitor if its connected properly ...

I have tried another monitor, and a 100% working cable, and still nothing, I reseated my Graphics Card, and am not sure what to do next. The moving around of the cords couldn't have been the problem, they were minor movements and if anything fixed a problem, not creating one.

Only thing I can think of now is that some files got corrupted due to the the premature shutdown and so you will probably need the CD that came with the computer to do either a repair or a reinstall of the operating system .....since you have XP have a look here http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixthe...airbootini.htm

The problem has nothing to do with Windows if you don't see anything at all on the monitor when the computer is booting. You should at least see your BIOS information. The quickest thing to check is the monitor by swapping it out, but these symptoms are rarely related to a problem with the monitor. It's a hardware problem.

Do you hear anything when the computer powers on? Fans? Beeps?

Fans come on, and there's a continuous beep every 20-40 seconds, and I agree DoubleHelix, from what I've seen, it is not Windows related.

The continuous beep is disconcerting, since there should really only be one or two beeps while the computer starts up, and most computers don't even have that. That could be a long POST code, meaning that something is unplugged, something is not recognized, or something is missing (for instance, if you don't install RAM in some computers and try to boot into Windows, you'll get a specific pattern of beeps until you either shut the computer down or install the RAM).

I would look up the motherboard model of your computer and look at the POST codes to see if a continuous beep every 20-30 seconds is a code with a specific meaning.

Lol, I'm getting mixed responses here, so if all 3 of you could agree on something that would be great, ^_^

The responses aren't mixed. The problem is definitely hardware related. You'll have to find information on your motherboard's beep codes or wait for someone to find them for you.
