We are encountering a problem when we "print" Word documents to PDF using CutePDF. It only happens periodically so it has been a problem to diagnose. We recently converted from Office 2000 to Office 2007 so we are still frequently dealing with documents created in the older version. What happens is when we "print" a Word document with CutePDF, a PDF version of the document is created and the original Word document is also converted to PDF. When you view it in the folder it still has the Word icon and the Word extension (.doc), but when you try to open it with Word you get a conversion window displaying gibberish and it indicates that Word does not recognize the format. If you do an "Open with" and select Adobe Reader, the document opens as a PDF file. I know that Word 2007 now allows you to save directly to PDF, but a lot of my users have used CutePDF for a long time and are comfortable with it so I like to get to the bottom of this and get it corrected if possible.
Has anyone encountered this and determined the cause?
