Even after a fresh XP install!!! I'm stumped.

You never get any error message?

When this happens, does your computer freeze?

You could download and run Process Explorer (hoping it will open more than once!). This will give you a lot more details than the simple Task Manager. You can even have it replace the Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) in the options. Observe what happens after opening your programs for the second time, to see if any other process could be interfering.

If still no luck...

I'll try th Process Explorer and I'll come back with the results, thanx.

I'll be just later in the evening (I have sort of a concert and will "eat" most of the day).

Are you saying you're having trouble only with Pro Tools?

Yep, everything else run properly.
I had same with Mozilla, Opera and Audacity, now those are not installed.
I have a theory on why. Pro Tools M-Powered is using my M-Audio hardware. The drivers are not accepted by Windows, so I click on "install anyway" (sorry for my poor English and technical details). So, the problem I have after installing latest security updates, not SP3.
Maybe those security settings block everything that don't pass Windows "acceptance" or whatever they call it...

Here's a link that might explain your driver problem:

Try finding the latest driver for your audio.

MAN !!! I got to the roots of the problem !!!
As I thought first, the Windows is making me problems !!!
So, after reinstalling Windows, SP3 I turned off automatic updates and some security updates I didn't download (what appeared after SP3). Now Pro Tools works just fine and open whenever I click on it.

A lot of people have had problems after some updates. It's not easy to explain. To find out which update is the culprit, you might have to install all of them and uninstall them one by one until you find the one not agreeing with your system. You'll need to update sooner or later, so might as well find the culprit soon.

Be aware that some updates can't be uninstalled, so I'd suggest you create an image of the system now when it's working.
Then if the update that is causing the problem is one that can't be uninstalled, you can quickly get back to your current situation.

Imaging Software
Wikipedia Comparison Chart
Includes links to both free and commercial versions

Free:
Macrium Reflect
DriveImage XML
Easeus Todo Backup
If you have a Seagate HD, you can use this, which is based on Acronis:
Seagate DiscWizard

Commercial:
Acronis True Image
DriveImage XML
Macrium Reflect
Norton Ghost

I vote for Acronis, the trial is good for 15 days, and you can find a better price than from Acronis, Newegg comes to mind.

Thank you everyone for the help.
For a while Pro Tools was working, today suddenly stopped, I had a blue screen but looking like Tetris (all the screen was screwed so I couldn't see what was the error) and the computer didn't want to restart. After turning it off (switch electricity off), Pro Tools didn't want to start again...
Man... I'm tired of having same problem again and again, I'll just quit on Pro Tools and search for a better alternative. Their technical support don't answer. This is how you lose clients.
