Unhappy yahoo messanger
For some reason i cant get yahoo messanger to work. I uninstalled it some time ago, because one day i signed out, and when i tried to sign back in the username field would not work, the cursor would not even be accepted in that field. it was strange. so i decided to reinstall it, when i did, right before i installed again, it said that it could not access the install files needed to install yahoo messanger. It was yahoo messanger 10 by the way. so i thought ok, ill just install googoetalk. i did, and it installed just fine, but when i went to sign in it could not access the server it said. So than i tried another instant messanger, one called trillian. that one installed fine, biut when trying to set up an account, it said it had problems submissing. so i dont know what is going on. in the mean time ill try aim, but i hate aim. anyways, if anyone can undertsand why for some reason, all of a sudden instant messangers arent working, please let me know.

I have:
windows xp home
msi netbook u100
im on a college network, they have filtering installed, but nobody else has trouble like i do. everyone else can instant message. please help

I had the same troubles and it turned out to be an add-on into my browser which was the culprit. It works great now.

h b d 1:
Which browser; IE, FF, Opera, Safari, Chrome, other?
Which version?

If you are using IE, try FF; www.getfirefox.com .

Try IE in IE with no add ons. Start > programs > all programs > accessories > system tools > IE no add ons.

Which Service Pack of XP? RIGHT click "my computer". Left click "properties".

Would you describe yourself as a beginning, intermediate, advanced or other computer user?

I am unfamiliar with Safari.

Anything in the event viewer referencing YM?

Do you refer to the stand alone YM, or within a browser?

What happens when you boot Windows to "safe mode with networking"?
Do the problems with YM persist?
