Can't Uninstall Adobe Design Premium CS4
Hi there, I'm a new member here at Tech Support Guy forums so I hope I placed this post under the right category.

Anyway, here is the problem I'm having with my lousy computer. At one point, my computer had a blue screen and I was asked to reboot the PC, after I had done so my computer could no longer reach the welcome screen without having it say the following:

The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternative. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable. Beginning dump of physical memory. physical memory dump complete.

I found a set of instructions on another forum to perform the following in the Recovery Console to remedy the problem:

md tmp
copy C:\windows\system32\config\software C:\windows\tmp\software.bak
delete C:\windows\tmp\software.bak
delete C:\windows\system32\config\software
copy C:\windows\repair\software C:\windows\system32\config\software

Having done that, my computer was ready to function again, although, many of my programs were in need of a re-installation even though they were still there. They were not able to work hence the re-installation, I also had to reinstall drivers and many other things. However, the problem is, is that I can't uninstall these old programs like the Adobe Design Premium CS4 that I have had installed - simply because there is no uninstall option any longer. I've tried programs such as ccleaner but I could not find one for the Adobe Design Premium CS4 on there either. I've also tried looking at the registries on my computer but there are far too many programs on there for me to even attempt out of fear of messing up my computer more. Essentially, I don't know what to do at this point, I've tried searching for answers on Google but to no avail. I need help, could anyone help me on here?

My gut reaction when reading your post is to backup all your data and do a format and clean install. Sounds like you have had far to many unknowns to recover to a stable and reliable OS. It's what I think I would do in the same circumstance.

If you should elect to do this, I have a further recommendation for future consideration that could save you from a similar event. Get yourself either another internal HDD (slave) or a USB external HDD of reasonable size. Purchase a copy of Acronis True Image and use it to create full backup images to which you can recover. IMO, the best time to do so is after you have done a clean install followed by all relevant windows updates and installation of the program applications you use. If you should choose to do so, you could also restore all the files you previously backed up thereby giving yourself a full up recovery option.
