my gf and I are trying to use her Dell laptop's built in webcam. She has a Dell laptop that is 2 years old, it runs vista. I am not using a webcam on my computer so the problem is with hers. We have used it on and off for several months with no problems, using msn. One day it worked fine, the next it started freezing, and eventually the screen went black. Now whenever i video call her, after she accepts the call the screen goes immediately either purple or black. please someone help, and no, it's not msn because yahoo didn't work either =D

What's the 7-character "service tag number" of your girlfriend's Dell laptop? It'll be on the sticker on the bottom of the case.

Is it using Vista Home Basic or another Vista version?

How much RAM does it have?

Is a wired or wireless connection being used?
