Slideshow/picture problems
I am a grandmother of seven and I am computer illiterate. So please be patient with me. I am having a problem with my slideshow. I have windows vista 32 bit and IE7. I am getting an message that says 'error preventing slideshow from showing."
Then I also am having problems in my pictures that I try to resize and send in an e-mail. I resized all my pictures to be able to send in the e-mail when needed. But just recently I went to send pictures from this one folder of pictures and couldn't send so I seen they were back to the original size instead of the size that I resized them to. Then I downloaded "image converter one." But now I have no clue how to really use it then to send pictures from there to my e-mails. I would rather get back to my folder where I can send from there. Please can anyone help.

Hello Kieko,

There are a few thing that have been known to cause the issue with the slideshow screen saver.

  1. Go into Personalization, open screen saver. Please re-select the folder the screensaver uses and ensure it contains the images you wish to use. Test the screen saver, if it works stop following these steps.
  2. Open the folder used in the Slideshow screen saver and ensure that there are only pictures in it and any sub-folders. Shortcuts and non-picture files can cause this issue. Remove any non-picture files and try the slideshow again. If it works, stop following these steps.
  3. Go into Personalization, open screen saver, select Photo. Then go down and click on "Change power settings". Change to either Balanced or High Performance and try the slideshow again.

Please let me know if any of the above helps, there are other steps we can try if it doesn't.

Thank you so much. This took care of the slide show. So very grateful. Now can you help me with the resizing issue please. I really would like to be able to send them in my e-mails. Thanks in advance.

I am using hotmail Live.com But the resizing problem I really think has something to do with the contents of the pictures in my folder that won't resize. I know you know what you are doing but it is when I try to resize in the folder even if I am not e-mailing that is the problem also. I truly think I would be able to e-mail if the pictures were resized. But, what do I know I am just an old grandma. Sorry, I know you know what you are doing. Thanks.

When pictures are too large to send them by e-mail, instead of resizing them, you can send them with a free service like YouSenIt or MediaFire.

According to Windows Live "You can send upto 200 files of 50 MB each or 10GB per email can be sent." so its very unlikely to be the picture size :P

What exactly is the problem you are having sending them?

And Kieko don't assume I always know what I'm doing, and please stop putting yourself down. I'm just a grandfather with 8 grand children, the eldest of which is 18, has no bearing on the subject in hand

Thanks sir. Grandkids are Great! Maybe the problem is not sending them it is just that I cannot resize them to upload them faster in the e-mail. Does that make any sense? But let me say this too, I did notice that when I tried to send the picture in the e-mail it would act as though the green bar that was loading was going all the way to the end and then it would stop before finishing. Some of my pictures in my folders I can upload fast, but not the ones that won't let me resize them. I am stumped as to why I can't resize them when I have been able to with the rest in my other folders. Because I do have pictures in other folders with different names/dates etc. I may be confusing you. My main issue is the resizing part actually not the sending in the e-mail. Thanks again.

Perhaps you could use IrfanView to resize your images. It's free.

Thanks. I have jotted down the three services you have suggested and when I get an opportunity I will check these out. Thanks again and I will let you know if any of these work.
