CDex stops recording after about 461 seconds
Windows XP Home up to date
Latest stable version of Cdex -- just re-downloaded and installed -- that didn't solve problem

Sometime in the last couple weeks, CDex started acting up when I am recording from an analog source to MP3.(Such as recording audio from a webinar while it is playing. Or recording a teleclass I am listening to via Skype.) It starts recording, as it should. But somewhere around the 461 second point, it just stops recording. Looks like it is recording, but the second counter stops and, in fact, the recording stops.

I removed and reinstalled and that did not cure the issue.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
ken

P.S. Additional information not included in original version of post:

Actually, it locks up. Freezes. And in order to close it, I must use Task Manager.

If you have enough disk space try recording to a WAV file first and then when it's done, convert it to Mp3.

Thank you, Stantley.

There is just under 20 gb free on the drive. I'm recording calls that take about 11 to 15 mb. So drive space would not be an issue, would it?

And.... CDex has worked just fine recording calls directly to mp3 for me for the past 5 years. This is a new problem.

My uninformed guess is that some driver or codec from some other program -- possibly something I loaded in the last couple weeks -- is causing interference. I have loaded a number of video editing and converting programs in the last two weeks for a project I'm deep into.

I appreciate your suggestion and I'm more interested in troubleshooting and finding out why it is exhibiting this behavior. And in getting it back to normal.

Hoping someone can address that, or suggest some things to test.

Best,
ken
